If you are teacher, do you read more in the summer? Do you already have your reading list or are you more of a "go with the flow" person? I myself oscillate between having a fairly lengthy list and going with the moment. Sometimes, I want to read all the of the books on my list right away and at other times, something completely random catches my eye and I am engrossed in something that had nothing to do with my list.
I am currently reading two birth related books, one nonfiction and one novel. Next on my list is "Committed" Elizabeth Gilbert. How about you? What are you currently reading?
After finding out that my student teaching placement will be in a second grade classroom I decided to read more books around this level. I want to be able to personally recomend books to my students. Does anyone have any suggestions that I should read?
ReplyDeleteWell, I am a nerd at heart and am currently re-reading the final 2 Harry Potter books (I do it every summer). But I have my list ready to go! I read a novel last summer that you may enjoy "Little Earthquakes" by Jennifer Weiner. It centers around a group of women who become friends at a birthing class. :)
ReplyDeleteMiss JoAnne, Check out reading lists usually available from local public libraries. If you can't find one around where you are, let me know and I will post a link to the one for the city where I work. I am not too familiar with books for second graders, I have spent a lot of time with pre-K and kindergarten students. It's also hard because students might still be at various stages of reading development, so your recommendations will depend on each individual's interest and level.
ReplyDeleteTracy, I have read other books by her but would need to look at that one to see if I read that specific one, but thanks for the suggestion. I haven't gotten into the Harry Potter series, but hope you enjoy it.
